Wait or take the stairs

This very strategic scroll was added to our apartment building's lobby. Patience.

Who is a patient person? I know I'm not. I have so many things that challenge my patience: children, waiting for the internet to load, or having to wait in line at the supermarket when there are so many people in China. Each one teaches me a lesson in patience. Add one more to the list, our building's elevator.

What's the sign say? Literally, "elevator maintain suspend use." I don't know, but I do know the elevator doesn't work and hasn't worked for some time. Rumor has it that parts are being taken from one elevator in our building to fix another elevator in the building across the street. Who knows, I'm just glad we have two elevators in our building (with one working) because climbing 20 flights of stairs would get old fast.

Sometimes climbing the stairs can't be avoided. The line for the elevator is especially long during high traffic times going to class or returning home from class. It didn't take long before I knew the best times to get the elevator. And if I must travel during the "golden-times" of elevator use, I am reminded to be patient.

Or I could always take the stairs.

UPDATE: IT'S ALIVE! IT'S FINALLY ON! AFTER MONTHS OF WAITING, THE SECOND ELEVATOR HAS SUDDENLY STARTED WORKING!
