Minnie Mouse New Year
We celebrated with the Foreign Language Department today at a New Year's "party." And this was no ordinary party in the American sense, it was full out Chinese.
The hosts opened the afternoon with a few jokes before the real fun began. First up, the vice deans to perform a musical number and dance. Then I think every other teacher in the department took a turn on stage performing, dancing, singing, and even a magician act.
When we arrived, we were asked if we wanted to "take a turn" and perform. NO! We took our seats and began to prepare our song, Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer, trying to remember the order of the reindeer in the song's introduction. We never really settled into our seats as we were anxiously waiting for our names to be called.
We waited and waited, and waited some more. Through the whole performance. Our names were never called. Finally, at the very end, we were called on stage to take photos, and then back into the room to collect some of the left over snacks and balloons for our kids.
