Easter Bunny Treats
As is the routine when we visit Big Spring, a town of very little to do, we made our 7 trips to Wal-Mart to shop. On one of these trips Christopher bought all the Cadbury eggs left in the store. He purchased 28 boxes in all. He promises to put most in the freezer for later, but will probably eat most of them before May. After we had reach the end of Wal-Mart, we tried to choose between the 4 movies in town. Since there are only 4, I chose not to go to one, when the best one in the theater was 10,000 BC.
When we awoke on Sunday, the Easter bunny was in town and had laid several eggs. As you can see by the photo above, we are stocked with goods for some time. Little Baby also got his basket full of butterfinger eggs (those are for mommy). All in all a great time with family.

Passport Update
In what seems like record time, Kanyon's passport arrived in the mail in only one week. We were all shocked that it actually arrived faster than scheduled. We definitely not complaining! Now we can begin the process of mailing all our documents here and there to get authenticated, approved, stamped, copied, etc. All this is required to return and live in the country. In addition, we are scheduling doctor's appointments to get a physical, blood work, EKG tested, x-rayed, etc. This is also part of the deal when you want to live in another country. We have scheduled the appointments and now ask for favor as we need the original documents from the doctor to mail to the officials approving our permits. Additional still, we need to apply to graduate school (for the TEFL certification), which includes transcripts, a hold on my transcript (thanks to Texas Tech and a required financial aid exit interview), and an application to Wheaton College. It will get done! We did most of this the last time we went to teach. All things that can be lifted up to the Father!
In other news, Kanyon rolled over last night to celebrate his 4 month birthday! We awoke to find him sleeping on his stomach. He seemed peaceful enough. That's until he woke up and realized what he had done! Not happy! It's about the first time he has woken up screaming. Now if he can learn how to get from his stomach to his back he'll be a rolling champ!

Baby Passport

Baby Passport Photo (aka Baby Mug Shot)
It was funny taking him into get his photo taken for a passport. The employees just looked at me as to say, "Are you serious that a baby needs a passport photo?"
Then we have to figure the best way to pose him. It's not like he can walk over to the screen to stand and smile for the camera. We are lucky if we can even get him to look straight, or even look at all (most times when you want his eyes open, they are closed). After several unsuccessful attempts, we finally got a good picture. (That's if you can even call this photo good!)
Any time that we need a good laugh to pick us up, we bring out this photo and it cheers us up every time. It reminds us of a baby mug shot, or a baby convict. We hope it brings the same smile to your face as it does to ours.

12:2 Times March 2008
As you can see from the photo below, we made our annual trip to Austin to watch the Texas High School Girls state championships. While we had a great time watching all sorts of basketball, Kanyon enjoyed being held constantly everyday and sleeping more than the games.

Shock at Seeing Too Much Brunt Orange
We arrived in Austin in time to see the second day of semifinal games on Friday. Four games on Day 1 before we retired at the home of our friends. They were generous to allow us to come home late each night and borrow a bed and bath before we headed out early Saturday morning.
On Saturday, we watched all 6 state championship games. This is the first time we have watched all the games on one day. We were not tired of watching games, only tired of sitting down and going every day. We were able to meet up with some friends and family in Austin in time to watch the last couple of games.
Sunday brought much needed rest and relaxation. We were finally able to catch up with our hosts, Ryan and Becca Edwards. Before leaving town, we had a great lunch with them and my sister, who is also in Austin.
Grandmother Memories
On February 25, 2008, my grandmother passed away. She was 80 year old and was a lifelong resident of Quitaque. I still remember going over to her house and eating Schwan’s ice cream with malt and chocolate syrup as a kid and eating the homemade chocolate chip cookies she kept in the freezer.
While it is never fun to get together at a funeral, it was good to be able to see so many of my Dad’s family together. We were able to visit with several people we had not seen for a while and had a good time visiting together.
10:30 PM
We traveled a lot and like to plan the times we leave and arrive. However, the more we travel with Kanyon, the more we learn about the unpredictable nature of children.
Each time we would leave, we planned to arrive early in the evening so we would not have to drive much in the dark. However, we always arrived at the same time 10:30 PM.
From Midland to Quitaque = 10:30 PM; From Quitaque to San Angelo = 10:30 PM; From Austin to Midland = 10:30 PM. I guess we now know what time to tell people we will arrive, 10:30 PM.
